Quiet Quakers break with tradition to shout about Quaker Week
SEPTEMBER 2007 sees the launch of the first ever National Quaker Week in the UK
an event that will celebrate the work and faith of Quakers throughout Britain.
In a radical departure from the traditional modesty associated with the Religious
Society of Friends, Quakers, as they are more commonly known, will be seen and heard across the UK from September 22 -30, in a campaign that includes special regional events, high profile advertising in local and national media, and the launch of a brand new microsite linked to the Quaker website.
Tom Harris, Outreach Officer, said: The aim of National Quaker Week is to raise
awareness of Quakerism as a radical, contemporary faith. Our faith is the springboard for the extraordinary amount of peace and social witness work that we carry out, in the UK and abroad.
At the same time we are bringing Quakers together from all over the country to celebrate who we are and what we do. Its a very exciting time.

What Quakers Say
There is something sacred in all people.
All people are equal before God and each person is a unique and precious child of God.
True religion leads to respect for the earth and all life upon it. Religion is about the whole of life.
We meet in silence to discover a deeper sense of Gods presence.
Live adventurously.
